I immediately fell in love with Elle Fanning’s red carpet dress as soon as saw pictures of it at the Maleficent: Mistress of Evil premiere. The original dress was custom designed for Elle by Gucci to be in line with her character, Princess Aurora. She literally looks like she’s a fairy princess who just woke up from a slumber in a bed of flowers!

I tried my best to recreate the dress on a budget, using synthetic chiffon (oh how I wish I could afford silk like the original!) and flowers from Ali Express (as usual). I experimented with using a cotton bobbinet (aka cotton tulle) for the corset understructure. The corset features spiral steel boning and a zipper closure.

This dress was worked on over late December 2022 up until early February 2023 and took approximately 80 hours in total to make. Construction process available for Patreon supporters.
