My Sister’s Wedding Dress

29 July 2023

My sister asked me to make her a wedding dress in mid 2022. Together we designed the dress based on dresses she found online that she loved the silhouette and styles of. We ended up with a sleek elegant design that has a beautifully draped skirt with a long train, and a sparkly lace illusion bodice.

This dress was recreated on a budget, with materials costing a total of just under $300 AUD. The drapey crepe was purchased from the Remnant Warehouse online and used on the reverse side so it would be less shiny. The illusion nude-coloured mesh was purchased from Silk World online and is a strong non-stretchy fabric, good for the base of the bodice. The lace that went on top was purchased from an Etsy seller in Germany and also used on the reverse side to be less sparkly.

This dress was worked on over mid 2022 up until December 2022 and unfortunately I forgot to document how long it took to make on an hourly basis.

The full construction process was documented on my private instagram account @alicia.estelle for Patreon supporters.

I also made my mother’s dress and my own bridesmaid dress.
