The end of 2023 was getting closer and closer and I felt that I hadn’t worked on any big sewing projects (of course I had worked on my sister’s wedding dress but I could show anyone yet). So on a whim I reached out to Lumisonata to see if they would collaborate with me so I could make a dress that I thought would definitely light up my world (literally!)

The dress is made from a fibre optic light up fabric. It is essentially a white synthetic fabric which fabric tiny fibre optic cables woven through it. Each of the fibres are connected to a connection point which then an LED light powered by battery packs can be plugged into to light up the fabric. I finished this dress a day before Christmas and it was the perfect way to wrap up my projects for the year… or so I thought!
