NYE 2023 was fast approaching and I was headed out to town with some friends… and there was a sparkle theme. I knew my friends were going to go all in so I went searching in the shops that morning for a sparkly dress. Alas everything in the stores was either way outside my price range or just looked awful. However I remembered my mum recently came back from Indonesia with a bunch of sparkly lace fabrics. That’s when I had the idea to whip up a dress in a matter of 2-3 hours, ready for NYE that very evening!

The dress pattern is simple using two rectangles for the front and back, with a drawstring fed through the neckline as straps. Slight curves are cut in the top corners of the fabric to allow for the arms to fit well. To give the dress some shape, I simply tie a ribbon around the waist. The dress is fully lined with a poly-interlock fabric in white, with the lace overlay over top.
